Conference Info

The 38th International Conference of the Spanish Society for Applied Linguistics (AESLA) will be held online next 14 – 16 April 2021.

It is organised by the members of MuStE, a group of scholars and researchers from the English Studies section at the Faculty of Philology in collaboration with other members from the Linguistics section and from the Specific Didactics, Research Methods and Diagnosis in Education at the University of A Coruña. Representatives of the Innova-Humanitas Campus also participate in the organisation.

The theme for the AESLA 2020·1 conference is 'Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Risks'. This year's edition intends to address the relationship between Linguistics and artificial intelligence from a double-edged perspective: on the one hand, it aims at promoting discussion on the role of linguistics as part of the Humanities but gradually getting more and more in contact with technical disciplines such as computing. On the other hand, it intends to analyse which opportunities are offered by this relationship and what kind of risks can be discerned.
